Is anyone else highly alarmed at this commercial for the Burger King Sponge Bob KIDS meal??? I mean, come on Burger King, what the hell are you thinking, marketing something for kids in a highly-sexualized way? It almost makes me want to boycott, except that I can't stand Burger King in the first place and never go there. And those of you that know me know that I'm fairly laid back... Ugh. It's just sick, in my opinion. How do you feel about it? Am I over-reacting?

No you're not overreacting...that's pretty sick for the target audience to be children. Especially considering the kids meals feed the under 8 (most older kids eat more than that) so they KNOW they are marketing to the very young. Sick!
OMG that is horrible
That's just sick.
Okay, my comment might not be so popular with this crowd. Personally, I thought it was hilarious. But I grew up when that song was popular, and I still like it on a fun karaoke night. But, I will agree that for kids, it's not appropriate. And if they are actually marketing it to kids, then that's terrible. It almost seems like a spoof though. Like something you'd see on Saturday Night Live. I'd never seen it before today. Has anyone actually seen it on TV?
Jen, yup... I saw it on TV last week (as a commercial). I'm pretty sure it was on Fox.
This commercial is aimed at adults and young adults and is over the line. Sure it is funny but to combine one of the most sexually explicit videos ever made and pair it with a cartoon for young children is irresponsible. It contains the line: “I wanna git wit’cha, cause you’re makin’ me richer.” Anything for money. This commercial is ridiculous, even if aimed toward an adult audience it is sexist and any woman who finds it amusing has issues. It has drawn the line with me since it is advertising for a kids meal. You can sensor what shows children watch but you can't stop them from seeing every commercial that comes on in a split second. I am boycotting BK and so should everyone else, send them a message that this is ridiculous and their ads are disgusting!!
