Ultimate Compliment and Something Surreal

Last night was a good night.

We took the kids out to eat at T Bones and had a group of four adults seated next to us the whole time. There were three elderly people and a middle aged woman... when they got up to leave, they came over to us and told Mark and I to "keep up the good work," because they said our kids were so well behaved in the restaurant. The elderly gentleman came over and patted Matt on the head and shook his hand and told him that he was a good boy and so quiet and good in the restaurant and that he "wouldn't have even known [he] was sitting next to young children." Mark and I were beaming with pride.

Then we went to Barnes and Noble in Salem. For those of you who may not know the story, Mark and I met at Barnes and Noble when I first started working there when I was 18. Mark worked in the bookstore, and on my first shift, I was going up the escalator to the break room to punch in and saw Mark at the top of the escalator. It was like time stopped at that moment, as corny as that may sound. We just looked at each other... and I think on some level we just "knew."

So anyway, last night we took the kids to the B&N after dinner to pick out new books and after, Mark went down the escalator ahead of me with Matt and I followed with Jillian a couple of minutes later. I was at the top with Jill and Mark was waiting at the bottom holding Matt's hand... and we just looked at each other again... 11 years later but seeming like no time had passed at all, except that we were now holding onto our two beautiful children... it was so surreal. It was a beautiful moment and reminded me once again how much I love my husband. We are truly soul mates and were meant to be together.
