Note to self:
While on long car drives back and forth to Amherst, DO NOT feed a toddler Cheerios and apple juice while the car is in motion. :-P Matt was getting fussy about half way home yesterday and I turned around to ask him what was wrong. He looked at me, said "keek-eeks" (pancakes) and then threw up all over himself. What fun. Mark had to pull over on the side of Route 2 so we could *attempt* to clean him up, which was a losing battle from the start. Poor Matt was terrified. He had just recently drank two sippies of juice, too, so you can imagine the mess. It didn't really affect me like I always thought it would. I mean, I felt so bad for poor Matt and just wanted to comfort him, but I wasn't grossed out by the vomit. Must be all those months of severe morning sickness that made me immune to it. Anyway, we cleaned him up as best we could, but he had to sit in the mess until we got home 20 minutes later because we couldn't very well take him out of the carseat.
When we did get home, I promptly stripped him down and stuck him in the bath while Mark tried to clean up the seat. Poor Mark!! The only way to successfully clean the seat was to take it apart, screws and all. Unfortunately, the seat isn't meant to be taken apart like that and he wasn't able to get it back together. So now we're in the market for another carseat. I pretty much decided that we should get him a seat that converts from a regular seat with 5 point restraint and latch system to a belt-positioning booster when he reaches 40 lbs. That way we won't have to buy yet another seat when he outgrows the 5 point harness type. It just stinks because what we were planning on doing was moving Matt to a booster when Jillian outgrew the infant seat and put her in Matt's Triumph seat (the seat that got ruined). Although, according to the research I did yesterday, we would have had to put him in a transitional-type seat anyway, because I highly tend to doubt he'd gain 17 pounds in 6 months (the length of time it took Matt to outgrow the infant seat). But this still means buying one more seat than we planned on. Oh well, that's life!
Anyway, Matt was completely fine after getting sick... we kept his supper very light last night - Cheerios and water - and he's absolutely fine this morning... had his usual HUGE breakfast. But now we know that Matt is like me and his Meema in that he has a tendency to get carsick. Therefore, no more snacks and drinks while driving!!

Poor thing! The first time Payton had a stomach bug and was vomiting, Brian was away for work (of course!) and everytime I heard a peep from her in the night I was up in a flash to save her bedding!
Payton is actually good in the car. Better than me, she can actually snack and drink while watching a DVD in the car. My stomach hurts just thinkin about it!
