As you know, I ordered baby furniture from BRU. Babi Italia, so good quality stuff that should last until Jillian is a teenager with any kind of luck. It was expensive stuff, too. I ordered it about 2 months ago, and a week after I ordered it, BRU called to say that it was in. I inquired about delivery and they said that they have an independant delivery company that they deal with and gave me the number to call. So I call, and I call, and I call... and finally they call me back and we set up delivery... one month and three weeks later. So, in other words, my furniture has been sitting in the warehouse for 2 months.
The delivery was scheduled for yesterday. That morning, BRU calls and tells Mark that there are some "small paint chips" on both the armoire and the combo unit (changing table). They offered us either a 20% refund if we decided to keep the furniture anyway, or we could order new pieces and keep the damaged stuff in the mean time. My thought was, they wouldn't have called us to "warn" us unless the damage was noticable.
So the furniture shows up, and while the armoire has just a couple of scratches near the bottom that aren't too bad, the combo unit has a chunk taken out of it. Here are a couple of pics:
Mark says he can fill the chunk from the changing table with wood putty and paint it... but I'm just peeved that I have brand new, expensive furniture that arrived at my house already damaged. I'm still hemming and hawing over what I should do. Am I being silly by wanting THE perfect nursery? I mean, it's going to get beat up over time anyway...
So... If I've held your interest this long... what would you do? Would you keep the furniture, fix it yourself and get the 20% back? Or would you return it and get new stuff?
Some Pics of the Actual Furniture (isn't it pretty??):
Anyway... in other news... Jamie and Monique and Nora came over tonight and we cooked out on the grill then went out for ice cream at Treadwell's. YUM!! You may remember Treadwell's as the place where I got that HUGE banana split when I was pregnant with Matt and really sick (B.Z. = Before Zofran). We had a lot of fun. :) It's so neat to watch Nora and Matt together now. They're about 4 months apart and the age difference used to seem huge, but now that they're getting older, you can hardly tell. They're playing well together and nearly the same size. :) It was really cute watching them play. And Nora can say Matthew. LOL... it's adorable. She says it kind of like Matt-chew.
Monique brought me over some of her maternity clothes, thank GOD!! I've been wearing the same pair of shorts now 4 days in a row, because they're the only ones that fit. Jackie had given me a couple of pairs that I thought I'd be able to use, but I forgot that she was in her first/early second trimesters when she wore them. I tried on a pair yesterday and couldn't even get them past my thighs {{blushing}}.

The furniture is beautiful Kelly! I know what you mean about wanting the perfect nursery! I will say that Brian would probably do exactly what Mark offered to do and patch it. If you decide to get new ones, Jillian may be born before it comes!
I say take the 20% and get something extra with the money! My dreams of the perfect nursery went out the window when they kept revising the date the furniture was due in. We ordered it in February and it is now not due in until the end of June/first week of July. (The date sound familiar because Ian is due July2nd!)
