How do you bottle those ordinary moments in your life that you never want to forget?
- Looking at Matt sitting on the floor this morning, doing something as normal and ordinary as watching a show on TV, yet instead of seeing the little boy that he is, seeing a glimpse of the man that he'll be someday.
- Delicately explaining the intricacies of fashion sense to your little girl as she stands in the living room dressed in a bright purple striped shirt and red polka-dot pants, looking extremely proud of herself.
- Listening to your kids have an argument over the placement of a toy toilet in the dollhouse, "I'm not playing with you anymore!" "Well, I'm not playing with you anymore!" And then not more than two minutes later, hearing them giggle together as they make up silly words in the kitchen.
- Explaining to your son in the car that there is a machine inside the stop lights that make the lights turn red or green, and having him explain to you that it's not a machine, mumma, it's a little man that lives inside, the size of an ant, who changes the lights.
- Learning from your daughter the meaning of the endearment "fee" that she always says whenever she snuggles up to you, exuding contentment and love. It means, according to her, "I love my mumma."
In times of stress, it truly helps me to look back at these little instances and remember what really matters and how lucky I truly am.
