Is he hurting you?

My kids have officially entered the "tattling" stage. *sigh*

This morning:

Matthew (approaching me holding his beach ball): Muuuummmmaaaa... Jillian took my beach ball!
Me: Well, you have it back, so what's the big deal?
Matt: She said it's hers.
Me: Is it hers?
Matt: No, it's mine.
Me: Then don't worry about it.
Jill: Mummmmaa! Matthew won't shay-yah! [share... gotta love that New England accent!]
Me: Did you ask him nicely?
Jill: (pause) No, but...

Then, later:
Jillian: Muuummmaaa!! Matthew don'ts likes me.
Me: Is he hurting you? Because if he's not hurting you, I don't want to hear it.
Jill: [Pause] He hurts my feelings.

Well, I guess she told me. I had no idea how to respond to that one.

We are deep into the tattling around here. A famous line at our house is "Mummy! Pay hit me!" or the other is "Mumma! Addie won't share! She just won't!"

My favorite: youngest comes running into the office screaming, "Daniel is going to tell on me..."

Me: For what?
Him: Well...

and silence ensues. LOL
